Washington, DC— The United Brotherhood of Carpenters released the following statement in response to the President’s State of the Union Address last night:
“President Biden’s agenda reflects the needs of hard-working Americans – lowering prescription drug costs, investing in American manufacturing, and increasing wages for working families,” said Douglas J. McCarron, General President of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters. “Our economy is stronger with good, union jobs and corporations that reinvest profits in workers and research, not stock buybacks and offshore tax shelters. These should be priorities of anyone elected to run our country and we are proud to support this agenda.”
“Our country faces important challenges and for too long we have postponed addressing them in favor of petty, partisan fights and political stalemate. As President Biden said last night, we can address climate change with energy independence and good, union jobs. We can address our national debt with fair tax policy and corporate accountability. We can renew faith in the American dream with investments in American manufacturing and infrastructure. Hard-working Americans deserve a government united behind the agenda proposed by President Biden.”
